CEC Applicants: FREE Test
Paragon Testing would like to give you the opportunity to obtain a FREE assessment of your English proficiency by taking the CELPIP Simulation Test. It is a great way for you to prepare for an upcoming English proficiency test, to get a better understanding of where your English language skills currently are and to see how many points you could potentially achieve towards your application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

About the CELPIP Simulation Test
CELPIP is a Canadian English language testing system that assesses general levels of functional competency. The test is completely computer-delivered in just one test sitting and test candidates are given 3 hours to complete the following components:
- Listening (30 minutes)
- Speaking (30 minutes)
- General Reading and Writing (120 minutes)
Within two weeks after the test date, a report will be sent to each test candidate which will include a proficiency level for each component of the test. The proficiency levels that are given are referenced to the Canadian Language Benchmarks.
Who qualifies for the CELPIP Simulation Test?
All current and prospective Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applicants that meet or are on their way to meet the following criteria set by CIC :
- plan to live outside the province of Quebec
- be either:
- a temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada, or
- a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada
- have gained your experience in Canada with the proper work or study authorization
- apply while working in Canada – or – within one year of leaving your job in Canada
Why we are offering the CELPIP Simulation Test?
As a part of our test development activities, we want to see how CEC applicants perform on the CELPIP Simulation Test. In the future, we may seek designation from CIC for this test to provide official evidence of English Language proficiency for the CEC applicants.
How much does the CELPIP Simulation Test cost?
The test is FREE! (valued at appox. $250.00 CAD)
Where can you take the CELPIP Simulation Test?
The CELPIP Simulation Test will be held at Paragon Testing Enterprises at UBC in Vancouver, Columbia College in Vancouver, Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, and Seneca College in Toronto.
When is the CELPIP Simulation Test?
The CELPIP Simulation Test will start at 1:00 pm on the following dates:
Tuesday, February 28th (UBC, Vancouver)
Tuesday, March 6th (UBC, Vancouver)
Tuesday, March 13th (UBC, Vancouver)
Tuesday, March 20th (UBC, Vancouver)
Tuesday, March 27th (UBC, Vancouver)

Test candidates should be ready to provide information about their eligibility for CEC immigration and at what stage they are in this application process.
Important Note:The results of this test are not official and cannot be used towards your application to CIC under either the CEC or the Skilled Workers and Professionals Class. For candidates wishing to submit an approved English language test by CIC under Skilled Workers and Professionals Class, please refer to the CELPIP-General Test. The CELPIP-General test is currently pending approval by CIC for use under the Canadian Experience Class.
